DMZ Art Project – Peace, Again, as part of the “Let’s DMZ Peace Arts Festival,” aims to promote the importance of inter-Korean exchanges, peace, and unification, as well as to convey the ecological, cultural, and historical significance of the DMZ, where division and peace coexist. The art project also commemorates ‘the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration’ (2000) and ‘the April 27 Panmunjom Declaration’ (2018). This exhibition is to share the result of DMZ Art Project – Peace, Again in GMoMA.
The “Peace, Again”-themed exhibition is not only an expression of the wish for peace to reign again, but is also a longing for complete and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula as the two Koreas hope for a new era to come again.
To proceed from the suspension of fighting to the end of war, ‘To Peace, Again,’ we must be able to recognize this in historical context. We can embrace the new era of Eurasia by becoming “the One,” rather than the other in the division. This also reflects the earnest wish for the reunions of families separated and divided by war and symbolizes “being proactive, future-oriented, and united” as internalized within the slogan “Let’s DMZ.”
